We came out of the gates hot today, heading straight for the world-famous Magnetic Hill in Moncton. An optical illusion which has you put your car in neutral and watch it roll “up” the hill. I was last there thirty years ago and was keen to see how the attraction had evolved…it had not.
Most people coast “up” in reverse, but “for safety” RV’s are required to go forwards.
Britt and Taz were underwhelmed by the spectacle. Which perhaps had something to do with our recent trip to the impressive Xenses illusion park in Mexico.
Regardless, Ciel and I were determined, so we got out to take a few pics from a different angle.
They were equally unimpressive.
In fact, the most entertaining thing about the stop was watching some girl who was completely incapable of keeping her reversing car on the road. She managed to veer off into the woods on three separate occasions before nearly flattening the scrawny teenaged attendant at the “top” of the hill. Now, THAT was worth the 6 bucks admission!
We shored up our novelty tourist attraction game by swinging past Shediac to rub elbows with the World’s Largest Lobster.
While the “Lobster Capital of the World” did not disappoint with it’s mouth-watering rolls,
It turns out their version of “Spicy Street Corn” involves just rolling it in crushed Sweet Chilli Heat Doritos…actually…wait…that’s not bad!
Parlee Beach (“Canada’s Warmest Salt Water Beach”) was jumpin’,
And made for a refreshing dip.
Aaaand, a Hasselhoff-esque action sequence.
“Wait, Daddy! Take a slow motion video of me running down the beach!”
Built by the French in 1751 against the British from Nova Scotia,
there was a brief indoor exhibit,
With some neat little artifacts.
And then a tour of the partially restored fort ruins.
While some kids appreciated the historic significance,
“Wow, it’s cool to think someone was sleeping in these barracks using those old scissors from the museum200 years ago!”
Others took the opportunity to frolic.
“Guys, does this look dramatic?”
We did make sure Taz got a weeny bit of historical education.
Before we crossed enemy lines to prepare for tomorrow’s adventure…

Wow!! Your pictures are incredible!! I would be underwhelmed with Magnetic Hill as well. Pretty cool history lesson though.
Yum…lobster rolls! And Parlee Beach looks warmer than Manitoulin. And much more crowded 😉.
