080 - East Coast Road Trip - Day 3 (503km) - Nature, Cuisine, Histo…Aaaww, Screw It. Let’s Just Go Have a Beer

After yesterday’s successful smorgasbord of activities, Britt was determined to replicate the pattern on day 3. Four activities: A Nature activity, local Cuisine, something Historical, and a Microbrewery. We got this.

It started out promisingly, as we wound our way down the Route des Navigateurs, 

When we happened upon an eye-catching lookout tower.

Which conveniently led to a short hike in the forest.

BOOM! “Nature” Activity!

It also included some opportunity for ecclesiastical education.

“Daddy, LOOK! It’s JESUS!”

“But, why is she the VIRGIN Mary?”

I tried to double down and call it a historical stop, too, but Britt vetoed that…

Roadside berries and maple butter, 

Along with one final stop for countertop cheese curds before leaving La Belle Province,

Easily ticked the “Cuisine” box.

We’re on a roll now!

Until, disaster (AKA our complete ignorance of Atlantic time zone boundaries) struck.

Suddenly, 2pm became 3pm and our plans to hit up the King’s Landing replica 19th Century village before closing time evaporated. Further disappointment ensued when we realized the closest microbrewery was 20 km off-route. It was all too much for us to handle…

So we pulled the chute, headed directly to the Hartt Island RV Resort, grabbed a couple beer from the fridge and bee-lined it to the waterpark to drown our sorrows.

Ciel was initially a little despondent about not being able to partake in the fun.

Until she sweet-talked the lifeguard into letting her use the toddler slide.

“Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!”

So, we didn't quite finish Britt's slated quartet, but all things considered, a successful day!
