093 - East Coast Road Trip - Day 16 (St. John’s - Bay Bulls - St. John’s - 64km) - Strong Finish

Okay, final day of our trip and we totally crushed it.

Sure, it started out very unassumingly, with a quiet stroll through downtown.

“Guys, check it out, I’m Mummy.”

What better place to start than at the beginning?

We found some great architecture,

And no shortage of colour.

Especially here.

Afterwards, we rallied the team,

And headed off to our whale-watching adventure.

Clearly, once we donned the suits we knew it was going to be a win.

“Let’s ride!”

There were puffins aplenty, skittering across the surface,

But, obviously, this guy was the REAL highlight,

IN.SANE!

We rounded out the trip with a jaunt back down the coast getting up close and personal with the rock formations and caverns.

At times maybe a little too close for comfort.

It was all pretty spectacular.

One final dinner ,

And an appropriate nightcap.

Rounded out the trip perfectly.

Until next time!

092 - East Coast Road Trip - Day 15 (Trinity - Quidi Vidi - St. John’s - 268km) - Goin' to th' City B'y!

One "Zen Petal Display",

And a final backward glance at picturesque Trinity,And we were off to the Avalon Peninsula for the final couple days of our travels.

First stop, the cozy little village of Quidi Vidi.

After 6 months and 437 iterations of Grammy asking us if we were going to go to the Quidi Vidi Brewery, and us replying “Yes.”, we couldn’t possibly let her down!

Things were a little tight on the patio, so Britt and I got relegated to the “B” table.

Some of us followed up the brewery with cotton candy ice cream…plus caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, peanut butter sauce, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and marshmallows.

Which gave us the energy to storm Signal Hill.

Welcome to St.John’s!

Later we hit up Water St.,

To get our Lobster Roll on...

091 - East Coast Road Trip - Day 14 (Twillingate - Trinity - 311km) - Holy Trinity!

Yesterday was such a successful one, we decided to do it all over again. We started with a 3h drive to Trinity Bay, before embarking on the Skerwink Trail,

With our hard core (but also cute and fashionably dressed) trail bunnies leading the way,

We marched off on another stunning seaside hike with spectacular views.

More stairs,

Towering cliffs,

(Which mummy loved…

...occasionally from afar)

Oh, and more whales!!!

(What?!?! We're so good at this!)

Towards the end of the trail we caught sight of the Town of Trinity from across the bay.

Used as the filming location for The Shipping News, it was first permanently established in 1580, and is one of the earliest settlements in North America. It’s now home to many colourful and heritage buildings.

Including our inn!

It was a good thing we “Google Maps’d” our dinner spot,

Directions were super complicated.

After a couple drinks and glam shots on the patio,

We went inside so Taz could spend 10 minutes reviewing this poster for appropriate wine pairings,

"Guys, we NEED to get one of these!"

And (eventually), for dinner.

So delicious, we scarfed it down before we could get any pics…again.

We took a quick stroll through town afterwards,

Just long enough for some friendly locals to goad Taz into ringing the church bell.

“DO it! Cha, cha, CHA!”
