It's day two and in the last twenty-four hours we've made it through 23 diapers, 3 pounds of cheese, 10 bottles of beer, two bottles of wine, and lost one of our apartment keys. Not to worry, it has all the required information on the tag (address, electronic lock codes, apt #) for some "well-meaning" person to return it to us upon discovery/rob us blind...
Erin says I lost it, I say she did. I'm planning to challenge her to a round of rock-paper-scissors for final blaming rights. In the meantime we're parking our three strollers in front of the door as a gauntlet of added security.
We were a little slow out of the gates this morning as our planned 8 am start came and went and we rolled out of bed at 10. Nonetheless, we didn't hesitate to get down to business and start checking major Paris landmarks off the to do list... complete with requisite touristy photos.
Ciel loved it.
Despite the fact that Ian, Alexa and Ciel have conspired to devise a rotating sleeping schedule (in which no more than two children can be sleeping at any one time) they (and we) have managed to avoid any major meltdowns. There was one close call when Lexi obliviously tossed Ian's MEC Nalgene bottle to an early demise on the metro tracks just as the train was rolling into the station. But, after a many tears and a brief period of mourning, we all recovered.
Ciel is getting along great with her cousins. She is becoming more accustomed to the boisterous antics of Team Carvalho, and they have learned what "gentle" means - "aim the blows to the head and torso, avoid the eyes". They loved teaching her the ins and outs of the group hug...
Cam's sister Melanie and Spencer joined us from London today, which bolstered the adult-to-child ratio enough to get us out to a patio for dinner. Although, in our haste to find a place with stroller parking for three we neglected to screen menus. Indiana Mexican Grill unfortunately didn't offer the most authentic Parisian cuisine, but at least the company was mediocre...
