It
all started like any other day. We were minding our own business at
Cottesloe Beach,

When
someone called the cops on Britt.
“Is it a crime to look this good?”
With
the fuzz hot on our trail, we ducked into the 4.06 sq. km King’s Park in downtown Perth,
In
search of a suitable hideout.
Unfortunately,
they soon tracked us down.
So, with the sirens wailing, we took off like dime-bag drug dealers on an episode of COPS.
We
lost them for a while in the crowd at the Synergy Playground,
“Quick,
through here!”
Which
gave us time to carry out some crucial reconnaissance from the Lotterywest
Walkway in the Botanical Garden,
Before
finally getting cornered at Gija Jumulu (a 750 y/o Giant Boab tree transplanted
3200 km from Warmun, West Australia in 2008).
Outnumbered
and outgunned, we ceded defeat.
Taz
was thoroughly distraught.
There
was no trial, as clearly Britt had no choice but to plead guilty. The rest of us were
implicated as accessories and we were hauled off to Freemantle Prison (convict-built in
1850 and operational as a maximum security facility until 1991, now a World Heritage Site).
We
were quickly processed,
"Spread 'em!"
And
herded to our cells.
(Women’s
Prison)
Ciel
and Britt got placed with the general population,
While
Taz and I (and our poop bucket) were confined to solitary.
Although, we did get our daily allotment of time in exercise yard.
But, they sure beat the poop bucket.
In our cells, we passed the time using our lead shirt buttons to doodle on the walls.
The
other prisoners regaled us with legends of former inmates, including Moondyne
Joe, who escaped three times, once from this wood and nail fortified
cell.
And,
Martha Rendall (the last woman hanged at the prison), whose ghost can be seen
haunting the prison from the church window.
Family
visits gave us hope,
But
we knew what was in store for us if we hung around…
So, we took a page out of Moondyne Joe’s book,
And
busted outta there.
“RUN!!!”
“Still at large in downtown Perth…”

Three things you have - a unique imagination, a better than working knowledge of paint, and time time time. The best part? We get the fruits of your labour.
LOL!! If you all run amuck in Perth ..what are you going to do here on the island??
That looks like a pretty cool tour of the old prison, lots of interesting things to see (and do?).
Its only minus 25 or so here. It has been so cold this week as we are no longer climatize for this.
It is damn awful cold on the ole hockey ice.
LOVED it! So fun to read! Thanks for the entertainment! Well done!
