055 – Flic En Flac, Mauritius – Mauritian: Impossible

“Good morning, Team Bearss, and welcome to the beautiful island of Mauritius, off the east coast of Madagascar.”

“Picturesque, but not all is as it seems.  Political forces are at work in the Mauritian government that have plotted the unthinkable.  You must prepare yourselves for the following harrowing images that will greet you upon your arrival.”

The devastation and suffering are beyond description.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to scour the island and it’s seedy underbelly for contraband beverages in order to adequately equip your team for the long weekend ahead.

“You will be stationed on the west coast in the village of Flic en Flac, posing as a family on vacation.  Accomodations have been arranged. The unit has been on our ledger (along with it’s decor) since the heyday’s of the 80’s,”

“But given recent budget cuts, you may find it a little rough around the edges.”

“Whatever you do, don’t look under the kitchen sink.”
“It’s classified.”

“You will be equipped with a gourmet chef,”

“And an administrative assistant, to walk you through classified documents.”

“As usual, try to blend in with the local surroundings.”

“We’ll be initiating a high-altitude personnel drop.”

“You’ll need him and his counterpart,”

“To assist you in making contact with the local residents.”

“Under the guise of needing to celebrate “Daddy” and “G-Dad”s birthday (01 Dec) solicit their help in securing transport to the Four Seasons resort on the east side of the island.”

“You’ll find it protected from local tyranny, and you’ll easily find some vintage supplies to get you through the first day.”

“Once the tremors abate, you will need to search for this woman.”

“Last seen in 1985, our scientists have done some computer modeling to predict what she might look like today.”

“Codenamed “The Muffin”, she will be an essential key to penetrating the black market. Persecuted by the current regime, it is rumoured she has fled the villages to take up residence in the Mauritian wilderness.”

“You will need to track her there, but be careful, the native species are not to be trifled with.”

“Once you make contact, work quickly to gain her trust, if she feels threatened, she will try to jump ship,”

“With her skill set, and a little stubborn determination (/desperation), you should be successful in finally finding a roadside kwik-e-mart that will defy the ban (for a 20% prohibition surcharge).”

“At that point, relax and sit tight for your 29 December extraction.”

And you just might find even the furnishings are tolerable with a fully stocked fridge.

“Just remember, once the ban is lifted you’re not completely out of the woods.  The Mauritian government is planning another injunction in seven days. Don’t get caught with your pants down, again.”

As always, should you or any of your I.M. Force be captured or killed, the Prime Minister will disavow any knowledge of your actions.  This blog will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Team.

Well done sir. Well done. I'd watch that movie. It's just so hard to have to continue to struggle through. I know you'll persevere though.
